Arpeggios are chords played one note at a time:. Scales A scale is a group of musical notes that provides material for some or all of a musical work. There are lots of different types of scales, but the major scale is probably the is more familiar with – to think about: Do Re Mi Fa Sol La you do. If you start with a G, say, then G = C, D = A, B = E, C = F, G = D, E = la, # = You, and G = do. This is the G major scale. You can start a new scale on any note. Licks are short catchy phrases.
